Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a mourning ceremony marking the seventh of Safar, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hasan (PBUH), Hojatoleslam Mehdi Daneshmand delivered an address at the Mosque of the Jurisprudential Center of the Pure Imams (PBUH) in the holy city of Qom. The gathering was attended by a host of seminary professors, scholars, students, and devotees of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH).
"There exist numerous narrations regarding the forbearance of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (PBUH) and his patience in the face of reproach from those around him, which are truly instructive and applicable to our lives," Daneshmand told the assembled faithful. He underscored that the Imam navigated an entire decade of his Imamate confronting the machinations of Muawiyah through the power of patience and clemency, thereby safeguarding both the Shia community and the essence of Islam itself.
Seminarians bear the mantle of the Prophet
Addressing the clerics and seminary students in attendance, Daneshmand remarked, "You carry several badges of honor upon your shoulders. The foremost among them is being vested in the garb of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Our duty is to be present among the people and to stand with them; our voices must echo the voice of the people."
He stressed the critical need for religious propagators to arm themselves with patience and forbearance, particularly amid prevailing economic hardships. "Today is a day when we must multiply our tolerance and patience in the face of economic difficulties and serve as a pillar of support for the people," the cleric asserted.
Defending the sanctity of the Imamate
Emphasizing the scholarly rigor required of religious students, Daneshmand stated, "We are disciples of the school of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (PBUH). Whenever we speak, our words must be firmly rooted in Quranic verses and authentic narrations, for we have entered the seminary precisely to defend the sanctity of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT)."
He further called upon preachers and clerics to consistently raise awareness from the pulpit about the sufferings endured by Imam Ali (PBUH), as well as issues pertaining to Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH) and the doctrine of Mahdism. The speaker also touched upon the life and conduct of Lady Fatima Zahra (PBUH), advising parents—particularly those from the clerical community—to introduce their children to the presence of grand scholars and religious authorities in order to foster familiarity with the great figures of the faith.
A dual commemoration
The spiritual ceremony coincided with the passing anniversary of Ayatollah Abdullah Fadel Lankarani, the father of the late Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Fadel Lankarani. During the event, eulogists recited praises and elegies honoring the luminous figures of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT). It is recalled that the revered late source of emulation, Grand Ayatollah Fadel Lankarani, frequently counseled believers to dedicate the seventh day of Safar to mourning the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (PBUH), affirming the widely held tradition regarding this date.
